What kinds of food can I find on Ownmades?

Home-cooked meals, baked goods, desserts, traditional kueh, beverages, snacks, and everything in between, made by real home chefs in your area. What you'll find depends on who's cooking near you. That's what makes it interesting. Every neighbourhood has its own flavour.

Question 3

Is there a minimum order amount?

No minimum for now. Order what you want, when you want it. Each home chef sets their own pricing. However, they can also set a quota on each dish for how many they can make and sell on any given day: so if something costs $5, you only pay $5. If you are able to add 5x of something to your cart, that means the seller is able to accommodate your request. If you try to add more and find yourself unable to, it means they are at capacity and you will have to lower the quantity.

How do I place an order?

Browse home kitchens near you, pick what calls to you, and add it to your cart. Add any special instructions if needed (allergies, preferences, a specific request). Then set your preferred collection date and time at checkout, and confirm your order. Simple as that.

Can I schedule an order in advance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. During the ordering phase in the app, you will be able to select your preferred collection date and time from a list of available dates and timeslots controlled by the home chef. The home chef will see your request and prepare accordingly. Plan ahead, especially for dishes that take time. The good stuff usually does.

What if I have food allergies or dietary requirements?

Your safety comes first. Use the Special Instructions box at checkout to let the home chef know about any allergies or dietary needs; they'll see it directly and can let you know if the dish is suitable. You can also use the in-app filter to browse only dishes that match your requirements. And if you're ever unsure, reach out to the chef directly before ordering. They're real people and they'll tell you straight.

How does collection work?

Ownmades is a self-collection platform, with no delivery. Once your order is ready, you collect it directly from the home chef at a time you've agreed on. When you arrive, you may complete payment with the chef on the spot, and they'll give you a unique numerical code. Enter that code in the app to confirm the handover and close the transaction. No middleman, no delivery fees, no waiting around. And yes, the person handing you the food is the person who cooked it. That's the whole point.

How does payment work?

Payment is handled directly between you and the home chef, not through the app. Once you collect your order and the chef gives you your numerical code, you settle payment with them directly. They decide how they accept payment (PayNow, cash, or bank transfer), entirely up to the seller. This keeps things simple and puts the money directly in the chef's hands, with no platform taking a cut. We think that's fairer.

Can I track my order?

Yes. Once your order is placed, you can follow its status in the My Orders section of the app. You'll see when the chef has confirmed your order, when it's being prepared, and when it's ready for collection. You can also use the app to message the chef directly if you have any questions about your pickup.

Is the food safe? What standards do home chefs follow?

This is a fair question and we take it seriously. In Singapore, home-based food businesses operate under guidelines set by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA). All Ownmades merchants are expected to comply with applicable food safety standards, and listings are reviewed before going live on the platform. That said, Ownmades is a peer-to-peer marketplace. We connect buyers with home chefs, and both parties take responsibility for their side of the exchange. We encourage buyers to read chef profiles, check reviews, and ask questions before ordering. Trust is built through information, and we want to make that as easy as possible on both sides.

What if the chef cancels or the food isn't ready when I arrive?

Life happens and home chefs are people, not machines. If a chef needs to cancel or adjust your order, they should let you know as early as possible through the app's messaging feature. If you arrive and something isn't right, contact our support team directly through the app. We're a small team. We actually respond, and we'll do what we can to help sort it out.
